Olá amigos! I just got back from a quick but jam-packed trip up north to Boston, and let me tell you, it was a doozy!

Our good friend and top-notch installer Kevin has been handling some tricky jobs up in Beantown, so I headed up there to lend a hand and make sure everything was running smoothly.

Now, I know what you’re thinking – Boston in the summertime? Isn’t that a little…hot and humid?

Well, let me tell you, it’s not so different from our lovely Tampa weather! In fact, I felt right at home.

Speaking of trips, I managed to squeeze in 21 jobsite visits while I was in the area, hopping all over Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and even New Hampshire.

Three tanks of gas in seven days! Phew, my credit card points are really racking up! But you know me, I’m always happy to get out there, see our amazing clients, and have some fun too.

One of the highlights was an installation for one of our contracts with Chase Bank at a brand-new store near Fenway Park on a Saturday morning.

Coincidentally, there was a concert happening that day, and I managed to grab a hot dog with my dear friend Eddie.

Speaking of Fenway, the branch had wood paneling resembling baseball bats. It was really cool!

Boston Adventures and Window Treatments

Another cool—but not really cool—thing was the 52 degrees in Concord, NH on Friday. Seriously, people! It is summertime, for Christ’s sake! Please put your winter jackets away…lol

Contrasts in Window Treatments: Tampa vs. Boston

As you might imagine, there are some interesting contrasts between window treatments in Tampa and Boston.

While we often focus on heat reduction and hurricane protection in Florida, our New England clients are more concerned with insulation against harsh winters.

Here’s another funny fact: in Boston, people raise their shades during the day to enjoy the sun and pull them down at night for privacy.

Meanwhile, Floridians pull the shades down during the day to shield their homes from the sun and raise them back up at night for a cool breeze.

Despite these differences, I was struck by the shared appreciation for quality window treatments in both regions.

The trip reinforced my belief in the importance of understanding local needs and adapting our solutions accordingly.

Whether it’s a historic colonial home in Boston or a modern beachfront property in Tampa, each project presents unique challenges and opportunities.

As always, I’m grateful for the warm welcome I receive wherever I go in our industry. It’s a reminder of the strong community we’ve built together.

Thank you for your continued trust and support over these two decades! Whether you’re in the heart of Boston or basking in Tampa’s sunshine, Shades In Place is here to make your window treatment dreams come true.

As you may know, I am a shady guy that you can trust!

Até a próxima (until next time),

Roger
