Our First International Project: Hello, Turks and Caicos!

Our First International Project

Hello, my friend. It’s official: Shades In Place Inc. is now international!

Can you believe it? After 18 amazing years of transforming homes and businesses and meeting wonderful people, things got even better.

After taking the leap to sunny Florida last year, we’ve now dialed up to the beautiful Turks and Caicos.

Imagine working in paradise, with stunning beaches and clear blue waters as your backdrop. The scenery was so incredible that I almost didn’t notice the heat and humidity.

Actually, that’s a lie. I changed clothes six times in three days! But it didn’t matter because I felt so incredibly humbled to be in such an amazing place, sharing my knowledge and taking on such a huge project.

You know what’s funny? Since I was a kid, I believed that successful professionals, actors, and artists never worked for the money. In my head, they did what they loved, and the money was just a consequence.

While I’m no household name, we do have something in common: I do my work with love and passion, too. As a result, I get opportunities to visit these amazing places I could only dream about.

Whatever you do today has consequences for the future

One thing is for sure: whatever you do today has consequences for the future. My parents always taught me to leave every door open because you never know when you might need to walk through one again.

This project was one of those doors. Back in my second year of business, I got a call from a colleague in Atlanta. She had a friend moving to the Boston area who needed window coverings installed.

Of course, I said yes, thinking it would be a one-and-done deal. But we kept in touch through social media and conferences.

To my surprise, she contacted me at the end of last year with an incredible opportunity to work on a massive project with lots of motorized shades and drapes. I was humbled and excited to join forces with her.

This past week, things got real. We spent three days at the property, taking dozens of photos, hundreds of measurements, and notes, and discussing the logistics to accomplish the project. A true Dream Team effort!

The best is yet to come…In a few months, we will be back for more sun, margaritas, and blue waters. Sorry, I just got carried away…

The best is yet to come…In a few months, we will be back with dozens of shades and drapes, hundreds of screws, and a positive attitude to make it all happen!

As I celebrate this milestone, I cannot forget my Brazilian roots. Just like a delicious feijoada, my journey is a mix of hard work, passion, and a lot of luck.

Here’s to many more adventures and the continued growth of Shades In Place Inc.!

Cheers!
