Hey there, sunshine enthusiasts and shade seekers! We had an absolute blast this past week as we welcomed our dear friends from Boston to our sunny abode here in Tampa to celebrate Ana’s birthday and discuss the importance of window coverings in both locations.

It was a perfect blend of laughter, beach trips, and yes, a lot of sunscreen! If there’s one thing you learn quickly in Florida, it’s that the sun doesn’t mess around. It’s like the Brazilian Carnival of weather—bright, loud, and in your face!

Our first stop was Clearwater Beach, a local gem known for its powdery white sands and crystal-clear waters. Our friends couldn’t stop marveling at the beautiful scenes, and I have to admit, even as a local (yes, I am calling myself a local already), it’s pretty breathtaking.

We lounged under our beach tent, dipped our toes in the water, and yes, we lathered on that sunscreen like frosting on a cake. Trust me, in this Florida sun, SPF is your BFF.

We also visited Siesta Key Beach, where the sand is so fine, it feels like walking on powdered sugar. The intense sun was no match for our high-SPF sunscreen, which we applied religiously every couple of hours. This is Florida, after all, where the sun shines with the enthusiasm of a samba dancer!

And last but not least, two more visits: St. Pete Beach and Sarasota. Sunscreen, long sleeves, and hats were once again our constant companion, proving that you can enjoy the sun safely with the right precautions.

Now, here’s where things get interesting. As we basked in the sun, it struck me how much our beach adventures paralleled the importance of window coverings back home.

Chasing Shade: How Window Coverings Keep Your Home Cool and Stylish

Just as we protect our skin from the intense rays, our homes need protection from the relentless sun too. Quality window coverings in Tampa, like blackout curtains and UV-blocking roller shades, are essential for keeping our living spaces cool and comfortable.

Our friends from Boston couldn’t stop raving about how much brighter everything seemed here. That got us talking about how different climates require different approaches to window coverings. In Boston, the focus is often on insulation and keeping the warmth in during those chilly winters.

But down here in Florida, it’s all about keeping the heat out. Good window treatments are like a great bottle of sunscreen for your home—they block out harmful UV rays and keep things cool and cozy inside.
As an added bonus, window covers also protect your furniture and floors from fading.

One evening, as we sat on the patio enjoying a lovely Florida sunset along with margaritas, we couldn’t help but laugh about how we’d been chasing shade all week. Ironically, we all want sun as long as we are under the shades…lol

So, to all our friends in Boston and Tampa, remember this: Just as sunscreen is a must for beach days, quality window coverings are essential for every home. They keep the sun at (Tampa) bay, add a touch of style, and make your living space a cool retreat from the heat outside.

And if you’re ever in need of advice on the best window coverings for your home or which beach to visit, you know where to find me!

Until next time, keep it shady and sunny in all the right ways!
