Use It With Caution!

If you know me well enough to remember my first name (hint: look at the end of this email) you will know that I am not afraid of working hard. But I must say that December was a little hectic – ok a lot hectic!  Between Ana’s surgery (she is recovering well – thanks for…

Ana’s Follow Up and My Gift to You

The surgery went well and Ana was released from the hospital yesterday @ 4pm. She’s now home sleeping and a little sored –  which is normal. There is a follow-up visit with the doctor  next Monday @ 10am. Please keep your prays coming… I was surprised by the number of emails, FB messages, phone calls,…

Please Pray for Ana Tomorrow!

Hope you had a nice and peaceful Thanksgiving with family and friends. I know this is supposed to be a “business” email. However I share so much of my personal life with you – like my recent wedding and visits from my sister Carolina from Brazil that many of my clients become true friends!

Word of Mouth on Steroids

We all trust friends and family for recommendations when we are looking to buy a product or service for the first time.  I even had a client that came to my shop and said “Roger, FIVE of my friends told me about you. Just tell me what I need.” But what if there is no…

Four More Years

Without getting into too much political conversation, I’d like to ask you for your vote. That’s right! I am running for office.   I want to be the president of Shades IN Place for another four years.   Here is my platform:

Same Thing – Different Results

And the party keeps on going…from our wedding in August and two wonderful weeks for our honeymoon to my birthday on 9/13 for more celebrating! Although my birthday is somewhat a “predictable” day: getting multiple gifts from Ana, a phone call from my parents in Brazil and my friend Antonio (whose birthday is the same…

I Just Got My PhD !!

Hope you are doing well..If you are still opening my monthly emails even after FOUR YEARS since the first one went out, I assume you are looking forward to what I have to say next…

Preventing Sunburn…Not the View!

Living in the Northeast, I know that every sunny day is an opportunity for outdoor activities. I truly enjoy some extra daylight during the summer months. The feeling of getting my job done and still having a bit of the “day” to play/relax/exercise is priceless.

Made In America

Like many Americans today, I am also celebrating Independence Day with a cookout and some Bud Lights. I’ve decided to take this week off to relax and re-charge my batteries for a very busy second half of the year. All my colleagues in the industry believe the economy is picking up and everyone seems busier than ever…

A nice post

I’m Bribing You

In the mist of so many scandals of corruption nowadays, I’ve decided to make it official: I am “bribing” you. In a good way however! Let me explain how it works: When you refer someone (friend, family or colleague) to me as a new customer, YOU will receive a $25 gift certificate from a local restaurant just…

Shame on ME!

The name of my company – Shades In Place, “implies” that I deal with shades. It’s a given. You KNOW that. Well, at least I hope you do… The problem is that I ASSUME that you also know that beside carrying shades, I also offer blinds, drapes, fabrics and Plantation Shutters.

I Cannot Believe It

I must admit that I was shocked that I have been doing my newsletter since 2008 and have NEVER talked about Plantation Shutters before! What was I thinking? Plantation shutters are a great way to enhance the look of your windows even when your windows are not exactly rectangular (see photo below). They come in all shapes, sizes and colors.
